What is The OPAKA METHOD?
Developed by master strength and conditioning coach, trainer, and educator, Jennifer Opaka, The Opaka Method is a unique approach to conditioning and healing the human body for optimal performance. Jennifer’s 25 years of work and study in the area of fitness has her trained in more than 40 disciplines. This diverse body of knowledge has helped her to evolve personal training into effective group training, the focus of which is building strength through resistance in combination with elements of Pilates, Yoga, and her own Roll & Release.
Jennifer Opaka
Jennifer Opaka has worked in the fitness industry for 20 years. She began teaching aerobics in the heyday of spandex, legwarmers and Jack LaLanne health clubs (She has admitted to wearing leg warmers and headbands). Members would often ask her for additional private training and she soon began her personal training career, almost by accident. “I had always planned on going to law school, but fell in love with helping people achieve their [fitness] goals.”
ROLL AND RELEASE
ROLL PILATES –
Here length meets strength meets core reformation. With specialized fascia releasing balls, we roll out the tight and “sticky” muscles of the spine. The longer the body, the stronger the body, and the better primed it is for a Pilates/Strength routine focused on core and upper body.
ROLL YOGA –
Roll Yoga honors the time honored tradition of Yoga while incorporating the newest in scientific fascia release techniques. Here, muscles are both stretched and released by rolling and releasing the body’s fascia. Guided use of specialized fascia releasing balls allows for the opening of fascia in the area associated with each Yoga posture (asana). From beginners to advanced Yogis, the unique benefits of R&R Yoga are experienced during the very first session.
ROLL RESTORE
This will release your body like no other restorative session. Here, with deep stretches, focus on breathing, and use of specialized balls, muscles and fascia are massaged and released. Benefits include, but are not limited to: increased blood flow, accelerated healing, pain reduction, improved fluidity of movement, and post-workout recovery.
